
ELITE
SOCCER CLUB ’86 BOYS TAKE SECOND PLACE IN COLORADO TOURNAMENT
The
under-16 boys team from the Elite Soccer Club traveled to Colorado Springs,
Colorado to participate in the 27th annual Pikes Peak Invitational
soccer tournament. This tournament
drew over 200 teams from 17 states to the 6200-ft. high playing fields at the
United States Air Force Academy. Bracket
play began Wednesday, June 26th leading up to a championship game on
Sunday, June 30.
The Elite team won their first four games at the
challenging altitude to advance into the semi-final round.
Sunday morning they won their semi-final game to advance to the
championship game at noon that same day. With
several injuries and two players not able to play the Elite boys held the game
to a scoreless tie at the end of regulation play.
In the second overtime period the Colorado team scored a golden goal from
a free kick near the penalty box to end the game.
This was only the third goal allowed by the Elite team in the six games
these boys played. The ’86 Elite team accepted their hard earned second place
plaque to symbolize a quality representation of Texas soccer.
This team plays in the Coca-Cola Classic League in Dallas and is holding
tryouts the first week of July.

Reagan, Cooper Young, Daniel Romero, Rudy Galvan, Jonathan Tidmore, John
Leatherman, Kyle Dillard, Jose Lopez, Josef Aragon, and Josh Lees.
